Plus, the pandemic and the shift to working from home have made millennials and Gen Z lonelier than ever, thanks in part to doomscrolling. "I believe the conventional 'make friends' apps too closely mimic the dating model, which can feel awkward and high-pressure for making friends," he said. The group hosts "reading parties" at bars and event spaces with the goal of helping people connect through reading. Dinner With Friends, a group that throws dinner parties, has worked on sponsored events with brands like Bumble and Geneva. Dinner With Friends founder Anita Michaud said brands typically either sponsor entire dinners or provide products — like canned cocktails — for the dinner parties.

After college graduation, I was worried I'd lose contact with my friends; we started a group chat. I came in as a freshman, eager to explore the new life college would expose me to. The group chat slowly went quiet and then silent. I'm trying to connect with my college friends in new waysI quickly learned that to preserve a relationship — any relationship — you must be intentional. So, I planned a group call one weekend after the group chat had been dormant for a while.

CNN —Prehistoric humans in Brazil carved drawings in the rock next to dinosaur footprints, suggesting that they may have found them meaningful or interesting, a new study has found. A dashed line indicates petroglyphs made by indigenous people, while a continuous line shows theropod dinosaur footprints. “I think rock art creation was embedded in some sort of ritual context: people gathering and creating something, perhaps utilizing some psychotropics. I think they were interested in what the footprints represent, and I suppose they identified them as footprints. “This was the case in various parts of the world where rock art was practiced, and it is very clearly visible, among others, in the North American Southwest/U.S.

IBM aims to be "client zero" of the AI products it sells to clients, marketing chief Jonathan Adashek said. He said AI has augmented the work IBM staffers do and even made its ads more effective. In April 2020, our CEO Arvind Krishna said IBM is going to be the leading hybrid cloud and AI company. That means acquisitions, that means divestitures, that means prioritizing some areas of work over others. Dropping 'hybrid work' from the return-to-office vernacularI think a lot of what drives productivity in the wrong direction is when you get people not focused on the must-haves and spending more time on the nice-to-dos.

That’s the message in a fascinating new memoir, “Burn Book,” by the tech journalist Kara Swisher, who hosts a multitude of podcasts and is a CNN contributor. I don’t think they read. As a financial planner, I have clients asking about investing in real estate on a regular basis. Real estate shouldn't be seen as passive income — it takes a lot of work and a lot of risk. But most people who are curious about investing in real estate have a lot of false assumptions and little knowledge or experience. Start Investing in Real Estate without Getting a Mortgage Fundrise is one of the best real estate investing apps for non-accredited investors looking to make long-term investments in real estate. But virtually no real estate investment is truly passive income.

What it’s like to work with ADHD
  + stars: | 2023-11-01 | by ( Aj Willingham | Brook Joyner | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +9 min
I used to think I had done it all in spite of my ADHD, which was officially diagnosed eight years ago. One of the sad ironies for people who have ADHD is that we crave the order we can’t seem to create. A common tip for people with ADHD is to break down a task into manageable bits: Stand up. It’s certainly more important, which is why I’m writing this instead of shuffling downstairs repeating the phrase “Laundry and trash bag, laundry and trash bag” like a Druidic incantation. READ MORE: Signs of ADHD can be different in girlsThe stigma around ADHD and other learning differences is starting to crack as we discover more about what makes such brains tick.

Big Machine RecordsFinal grade: 8.3/10Any Swiftie will tell you that "Reputation" was made to be played live. Indeed, I challenge anyone to watch the Reputation Stadium Tour's concert film on Netflix and not come away with intensified respect for bangers like "...Ready For It?" Even "Dancing With Our Hands Tied," one of my least favorite tracks in terms of production, shines in concert with Swift's acoustic rendition. But the reality is that outside of those clips, "Reputation" exists as an album, not a live show. And despite glimmers of genius, the "Reputation" tracklist contains some of Swift's worst decisions to date.

Hard work, determination and perseverance can all contribute to a successful career. But there's one key underrated element, according to Everette Taylor, CEO of the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter: Timing. And though he says he's worked diligently to achieve his current stature, timing played a huge role, too. For example, "the way Kickstarter discovered me is that one of the board members happened to be reading a Financial Times article about me," he says. But also the intentionality to put yourself in a position to have new opportunities and then execute on those opportunities," he says.

One step is to build a "circle of influence" filled with people who can help you make an impact. But the path forward is not always obvious, says Sanjay Khosla, senior fellow and adjunct professor of marketing at the Kellogg School and trained executive coach. "When you're stressed out, there's a mismatch between what you want to be doing and what you're actually doing," Khosla says. As part of her circle of influence, Maya identified her manager, a few peers, a senior sales leader in her company, and a handful of people outside the company. "Look at everything from another person's point of view, rather than just telling them what you're doing," he says.

You’re probably very weird, and not just for all the obvious reasons you’re thinking of. Because, obviously, there’s going to be some overlap in the curve here. How you’re going to behave with your professor is quite different than how you’re going to behave with your friends. But it’s really kind of faceless, and you’re not really helping anybody you know. I think things are dynamic, and directions are changing, and that sort of thing.
New York CNN —CEOs and other senior leaders very often want employees in the workplace for more days than employees who can do their jobs remotely would like. Many leaders assert more in-person experiences can, among other things, provide better career development for the youngest and newest employees. The good old days may not have been that goodConsider that before the pandemic, most employees were at their workplace five days a week. But fixating on the question of “how many days should employees be in the office?” is the wrong approach, Yost said. “In general there has been a lack of intentionality of how we develop young people,” Yost said.
But Finklestein also had another side business on his mind last week in an interview that had been pre-taped for CNBC's Small Business Playbook event, the loose-leaf tea side hustle, Firebelly Tea, that he co-founded as an independent entrepreneur. Finkelstein said it will be cheaper and also likely a more effective way to grow a new business. The creator economy is changing the way business success is generated, Finkelstein said, with the old "Field of Dreams" model — "If you build, it, they will come" — no longer enough. But that does not mean every small business owner with a great product should be chasing MrBeast or Emma Chamberlain for product endorsements. He cited the TikTok hashtag "TikTok Made Me Buy It" which has 50 billion impressions.
